Traditional Danish Christmas Dinner.

My family got together over the weekend for our annual traditional Danish Christmas Dinner complete with open-face sandwiches (4 varieties), cabbage, pickled eggs and smoked mackerel with lemon mousse dessert. My Bedste Moi is an amazing cook. I provided the Christmas Cheer (Jägermeister) to accompany this fine meal :)

Rough concept of our soon-to-be-reno'd basement (entertainment room, not incl bedroom & laundry).

So we've decided to take the plunge and renovate our basement. Our house is over 100 years old.. so this should be interesting. It was reno'd in the 60's - 70's... had a full kitchen, bedroom etc at one point (has all been since torn out). We're starting fresh by gutting our 600 sq ft rectangular basement and starting fresh. The vision? An entertainment room (or Man Cave according to @jedmarc and @rodleland), extra bedroom, ample storage and brand new laundry area. We're emptying the basement ourselves... tearing out the old framing, drywall and carpet as well as levelling the concrete floors. After all, if you're going to go through this much trouble to do it, do it right. This concept is merely one of MANY that I have doodled in the past weeks in anticipation of having a fun new space to add to the functionality (and value) of our home. I've already got the furniture... just need a place to put it ;) We can't wait! Will keep you posted!
