Dundurn Castle, Hamilton ONT.
Built in 1832 by Allan McNabb, the first prime minister of Canada West prior to Sir John A. MacDonald. The word 'Dundurn' supposedly means 'fortress by the water' in the language of McNabb's Scottish heritage. The land used to serve as a defence fortress prior to being purchased by McNabb. Parts of the original barracks can still be found within the basement of the existing castle and foundation. There is so much history within the walls of this Canadian historical gem.
