Morning_Sunshine-01I’m not a fan of Mondays. In fact, I’m pretty sure the feeling is mutual.

This Monday morning Jeddy and I woke up at 5:30am. Seems crazy since we don’t have kids.. just a couple of working professionals who don’t ACTUALLY have to ‘clock in’ or ‘clock out’ at certain times… but we have found that getting up at ass-crack-o-dawn actually gives us a HUGE advantage. We tend to be able to focus better and be more productive (at least for a few keys hours before the rest of the 9-5-ers wake up). It’s easy to get distracted by emails, phone calls, facebook timeline etc. throughout the day. At 5:30am the only people emailing me are Wayfair and Groupon Deals (busted) and phones are silent.

I’ve read (and learned) that waking up before the sun gives you a productive edge that other people don’t experience. You get to ‘steal time’ as they say from the day to do whatever the heck you want. Many successful people use these hours to go for a run, to the gym, read a book or work on a personal project. I find this time is best spend drinking obscene amounts of coffee (to get me through the rest of the day since – obviously – since I woke up at a stupid hour), catching up on outstanding work tasks that follow me around, or planning the day/week with my husband.

I’m curious to know… what time you do typically get up? (weekends don’t count… we’re talking Monday to Friday). Do you think you would accomplish more by waking up an hour or two earlier each day? And last of all… WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH AN EXTRA HOUR EVERY DAY?
