Tonight's creation is finished - vanilla cupcakes with créme brûlée buttercream and caramelized sugar.

This is the first time I've ever made caramelized sugar. I was a little apprehensive but after a few YouTube tutorials I was good 'n ready to give it a try. The best part? Cracking the hardened candy after it had cooled - it reminded me of working with stained glass in high school art. The finished product literally looks like amber. So fun to make, play with AND eat!
